Eldritch Elementals is HERE! And even more Fall Fantasy!

Our Fantasy Fall continues today with the release of Eldritch Elementalism, an exploration of the arts of elemental magic for spellcasters with new archetypes and feats, but also with a dozen dynamic templates for redesigning your elementals in some amazing ways, from shape-altering piscine and predator elementals to consuming elementals, draconic elementals, and even radioactive elementals! If you love working with elementals as a player or GM, you’ve gotta get this today at the Legendary Games webstore, Open Gaming Store, Paizo, DrivethruRPGand soon on Amazon!

We’ve got even more great winter-themed material coming later this month with Ron Lundeen’s amazing centaur adventure, The Horseshoe Calamity, but before that we’ve got a brand-new monster book long in the making from Thurston Hillman and Jesse Benner to make your medium-sized monsters much, much meaner!

How about a preview of what you’ll find inside NEXT Monday?

Too often in high-level Pathfinder RPG play, your opponents are either high-level NPCs or towering titans of imposing size and strength. There’s nothing wrong with a colossal killing machine, but when you want creatures for your campaign that pack a powerful punch in a size small enough to walk right in the back door, you need Malevolent Medium Monsters! These are not outsiders with a million spell-like abilities, nor complicated classed characters, but honest-to-goodness monsters from CR 11 to 18 ready to terrorize your unsuspecting heroes as they tear them apart! You’ll find the paralytic alabaster beetle, the malformed composite homunculus dragon, the blood-soaked ersatz, the sinister and heretical faithslain, the grotesque misbirthed, and an entire new category of fiendfused monstrous humanoids that drink deeply from the wells of fiendish corruption to achieve an awful apotheosis! Each new creature is designed with full-page portraits, dynamic abilities, and detailed ecology, tactics, and advice on using it in the campaign, whether your heroes are facing invading demon hordes, exploring a wounded wasteland where chaos reigns, or expunging the tainted lineage of an ancient evil!

Of course, our Fall Fantasy kicked off last week with the fabulous 5-star-awesome Forest Kingdom Campaign Compendium for Pathfinder, and the 5E version is well along in layout and should be ready for our Kickstarter backers later this month. This fabulous 424-page encyclopedia of adventure is an incredible resource for any wilderness campaign, especially one featuring the fey, with tons of character options, spells, magic items, feats, monsters, and so much more, including rules for tournaments and festivals, sample characters and kingdoms on the borderlands of the wild, and a wealth of incredibly rich material dealing with faeries and the fey realms! You can grab the PDF right now at the Legendary Games webstore, Open Gaming Store, Paizo, and DrivethruRPG, and you can preorder the print version and print/PDF bundle exclusively at the Legendary Games webstore!

There’s more great Kickstarter news, as our Legendary Planet project is heading into the final stretch with the release of Mind Tyrants of the Merciless Moons for Pathfinder to backers, with the 5E version already in layout, plus within the next week or so we should also have Legendary Planet: The Scavenged Codex for Starfinder as well!

Last but not least, though, we wanted to thank each and every one of you who took the time to hop on board with us on the Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief mega-bundle we ran at DrivethruRPG! They were great partners for this and last month’s Hurricane Harvey bundles, and we thank them for their assistance in helping all of us to help the heroes on the front lines.

A final blast of Winter this week!

First of all, we are excited for the diabolical debut this Friday of Legendary Villains: Wicked Witches  by Alex Riggs, the latest installment in our Winter Plug-Ins line!

Legendary Villains: Wicked Witches brings you an incredible resource for the best of the worst when it comes to sinister spellcasters for your Pathfinder Roleplaying Game campaign. Within you’ll find a ton of great new options for witches, including archetypes like the consort of fiends, curio collector, and shadow sister, along with the terrifying hag matron prestige class, complete with special abilities unique to each type of hag. Wicked witches can swear oaths to their eldritch patrons, gaining power through their devotion to natural forces like frost and waves, or to corrupt principles from lies and destruction to hedonism and madness! You’ll also find new hexes like the haruspex and skull sentinel and witch-themed magic items like the broom of chastisement and toxic cauldron. Finally, for witches who want to start play with an otherworldly familiar, you’ll find over a dozen lesser versions of exotic familiars like quasits, imps, rakshasas, and shadow drakes! Whether you are designing epic villains as a GM, or playing a character who taps into the dark side of arcane magic, Legendary Villains: Wicked Witches is a treasure trove of material to help Make Your Game Legendary!

One of the coolest new elements Alex has introduced is the concept of witch oaths, which are sworn to their patron and carry with them unique benefits as well as obeisances the witch must perform to maintain the favor of the mysterious entities that grant their power. For a quick preview, check out the following sample oaths:

Oath of Darkness

You vow to do your best to cover the world in darkness, and chase back the hated light.

Patron: Shadow.

Oath: You must spread darkness and remove light. You cannot create any source of normal or bright light, including lighting torches or lanterns, creating such items, or casting spells that create normal or bright light. At least once per day, you must extinguish a source of normal or bright light that was not lit or created specifically for that purpose.

Benefit: Your magic is more potent in the shadows. The saving throw DCs of your spells and hexes that target a single creature increase by +1 as long as both you and the target are in a single contiguous area of darkness (including supernatural darkness).

Oath of Destruction

You swear to spread entropy and destruction in your wake.

Patron: EntropyHA.

Oath: You swear yourself to be an agent of entropy, hastening the ultimate destruction of all things. Each day, you must either destroy an object or objects worth a total of at least 20 gp per witch level, or kill a total number of Hit Dice worth of intelligent creatures (those with an Intelligence score of 3 or higher) equal to 1/2 your witch level. In either case, the destruction or killing must be done for no other purpose than to fulfill this oath.

Benefit: The saving throw DCs of spells you cast with the death descriptor, as well as spells that deal damage to objects or destroy objects, increase by +1. Additionally, you gain a +2 bonus on saving throws made to resist death effects.

In honor of this new Winter release, and to celebrate the last week of winter, we are also pleased to present Winter Heroes by Liz Courts as our TWO$DAY product of the week – 8 incredible winter-themed characters with rich and detailed backstories and personalities, ready to drop into any campaign but especially one featuring the fey or the wild and woolly winterlands of the far-distant poles. Grab it this week 70% off for just $2!

Last but not least, we are pleased to continue our incredible 60 BOOKS, 30 BUCKS Pathfinder MEGA-BUNDLE at Paizo.com! The same spectacular savings – over 90% off on 60 Pathfinder PDFs totaling 1,487 pages and with a regular sale price of $337! You also can get this great bundle right here at the Legendary Games webstore all month long.

But all good things must come to an end, and TOMORROW, 3/15, IS THE IDES OF MARCH, and it signals the END of these amazing bundle deals elsewhere. Tomorrow is your last chance to get the 60 BOOKS, 30 BUCKS Pathfinder MEGA-BUNDLE at the Open Gaming Store and DrivethruRPG and the 20 FOR 20 5E MEGA-BUNDLE at the Open Gaming Storeand DrivethruRPG! A glorious day for rogues, and stealing a look at Winter Heroes!

Today brings the latest preview of our fantastic upcoming Winter Heroes character collection, but we’d be remiss if we did not thank Endzeitgeist for his rave review for Matt Goodall and Jason Nelson’s Legendary Rogues!

Legendary Rogues Cover

You can read Endzeitgeist’s full review here on his site, but here are his conclusions:

Matt Goodall and Jason Nelson’s Legendary Rogue, at first glance, looked like it was too good to be true; and since most books like this are just that, I went on to test the living hell out of this book. Okay, let me make this abundantly clear: No matter the power-level of your campaign, no matter how much you may like the Unchained Rogue, the Glory Rogue or the like – YOU NEED THIS. I didn’t realize how much I needed this book until I actually read it. Beyond taking care and fixing several trap options and retaining their feasibility over the levels, beyond a power-upgrade that was sorely required, the legendary rogue as presented herein is still as rogue-y as it can be – and so much more!

Let me state this loudly and clearly: The Legendary Rogue is the class the Unchained Rogue should imho have been. It is now my default rogue class, particularly since it cleaned up those annoying trap options, ability discrepancies etc. – this is a labor of love, where, with a fine-toothed comb and deliberate care, mechanics were streamlined to actually play better with PFRPG’s official other classes. Oh, and if you dislike any component of this book, its supreme versatility does allow you to cherry-pick your preferred option to customize the respective tricks. Now, and this is where the book goes the extra, second extra mile, it also does something only very few crunch books do: It explains its design-rationales in easy to grasp ways for the respective GMs and players perusing this book – so if a particular issue addressed is not one for you, you’ll have the pros and cons weighed and listed so you can decide for yourself. Modularity-wise, this is up there with Spheres of Power or the Martial Arts Guidebook in the ways in which its respective options can be used or discarded – and it may even surpass them.

This book, in short, provides the player-driven, versatile rogue I’ve always been wanting since the inception of 3.0, the class I always longed for, but never got. Legendary Rogue is, without any hyperbole, a truly astonishing, downright brilliant piece of work and will be the standard by which I henceforth measure class-fix-style pdfs. It is simply ridiculously good and a shining example of what a crunch can do; it thus receives 5 stars + seal of approval, nomination for my Top Ten of 2015 and the EZG Essential tag – if it also covered trap-rules and a fix for the Stealth-skill, it would completely replace my previously favorite rogue fix, Rogue Glory, completely; as it stands, Legendary Rogues is a true must-own book for anyone who likes playing rogues and felt that the class fell flat of what it should be able to do, for everyone who wants more customization, options, flair – this is for you and worth every cent of its asking price a hundredfold.

You can pick up Legendary Rogues right here on the Legendary Games webstore or wherever fine Pathfinder products are sold!

Meanwhile, on to the preview for Winter Heroes, our seventh set of 8 ready-to-play pregenerated 1st level characters created specifically to shine in a Witches of Winter Adventure Path but ideal for any campaign venturing into the marvelous mash-up of the fantastical and the futuristic! Ideal for use as allies, cohorts, long-running NPCs, or replacement player characters, Liz Courts brings you amazingly detailed and lushly developed characters including:

  • Brynla, half-orc druid of the green faith
  • Maja Tasker, halfling investigator sleuth
  • Pero, human summoner and his otherworldly protector, Drahu
  • Roelof, dwarf witch guardian of the ley lines
  • Stojan, snowborn elf two-handed fighter
  • Zakhar, snowborn elf oracle
  • Zuza Holt, human herald of the horn skald
  • and last but not least, the shadow-sneak Senka Featherfingers, fetchling rogue!

Built according to organized play specifications, using the 20-point-buy method and with scaling notes for 15-point builds, these characters are not just piles of statistics. Each one is as much about story as combat, with robust links built in to each other as well as the official Witches of Winter Adventure Path, though every one easily stands on its own in any setting where savage barbarians battle technological terrors. The crunch for every character more than measures up to its incredible flavor text, though, and when it’s time to throw down in combat none of these Winter Heroes will be stepping to the sidelines.

Winter Is Coming… Legendary Style!

Tonight will be the longest night of the year, and tomorrow marks the official start of winter. Thus far in December, Legendary Games has been playing against type, releasing products ranging from our first family-friendly adventure Into the Feyweald to creepy psychics in Occult Character Codex: Occultists, to a slew of products suited to the sizzling sands of ancient empires, like Mythic Monsters: Egypt and THREE new Egyptian-themed adventures all rapidly approaching release. But make no mistake, WINTER IS COMING!

Zakhar - 7

While some of our product lines are approaching their conclusion, we are pleased to announce the advent of a new line of Adventure Path Plug-Ins ideally suited for the Witches of Winter AP as well as any campaign that ventures into the cold places of the world (or to other worlds entirely), especially those drawing up on the legends and lore of Eastern Europe (and a bit of Scandinavia thrown in as well). These Winter AP Plug-Ins will be kicking off in January with the latest entry in our fantastic Heroes series, the first in this line penned by a hand other than Legendary co-founder Neil Spicer. These Winter Heroes instead spring from the marvelous mind of Liz Courts! No stranger to LG, Liz laid out a number of our products in 2012, but this will mark her authorial debut, and we are delighted to bring her love for the subject matter and design skills to the table, along with an assortment of amazing artwork from Bob Greyvenstein, who also delivered the knockout designs you’ve seen in Metal Heroes and Nautical Heroes

Next in line, we’ll be bringing you the Treasury of Winter, a collection of marvelous magic items themed for the depths of winter. From cheery items like the candle-crown of holly, welcome wreath, and festive fox fur to the sinister howling horn and Krampus bag, you’ll find an assortment of items drawn from cultures that dwell in the boreal climes where summer is but a distant dream. Following that, Legendary Villains: Wicked Witches is slated to follow, and yet more to come. If you love the sight of falling snow and the howl of hungry wolves, it is time to celebrate. Winter is not just coming, the bleak midwinter is practically here!
