The Isle of Danger Awaits!

The treacherous jungle island known as Crown Isle was marked on every map for danger, as the verdant vegetation itself rose up to devour many who sought landing there until the infamous Captain Jared Tarin hacked out a refuge upon the mountain’s hilly crest and made it his own. Other pirates sought to take him down, but each fell to the deadly dangers of the “Red Skewer” and his pirates, or to the still-wild jungle barely held at bay. When Tarin and his crew stole the Pirate Queen’s Pearl, a flotilla of rivals blockaded his island for months, but none have dared to seize their chance. Can your eager band of buccaneers claim fame and fortune on the deadly isle of Tarin’s Crown?

Islands of Plunder: Tarin’s Crown is an adventure for 6th-level PCs using the 5th Edition rules of the world’s most famous roleplaying game. Fraught with harrowing battles on land and aboard ship, through treacherous terrain against even more treacherous foes, this adventure includes two sets of maps, one for the GM an unkeyed set for player reference. This adventure can be played on its own or easily dropped into any seafaring campaign or setting.

Egypt is here and Winter Is Coming, but it’s a pirate’s life for me!

We have been having a great time delving into the ruins of ancient Egypt, and we are looking forward to next week’s release of Winter Heroes, our first product in our new line of Winter AP Plug-Ins, but it’s also a delight to be back working on some of our projects that have been long sitting on the back burner. I’ve been editing and revising the core manuscript for the long-awaited Fort Scurvy, a high-level adventure through the castle of a pirate king! Check out Bruno Balixa’s illustration of a skeevy pirate town protected by the eponymous fort!

Pirate Port_BrunoBalixa_small

I am happy to report that things are progressing very nicely. I’m redesigning a lot of the encounters using the troop subtype, in parallel work on Ultimate Armies, and working out other details, so hopefully we’ll be ready to go to layout next month. Today I received the finished maps back from Jason Juta, a longtime collaborator with LG as an artist, and I am very impressed with his work and think you will be too.

Fort Scurvy Map 5

Fort Scurvy has expanded in the course of writing, and we may end up breaking off a separate element dealing with high-level fleet battles. We’ll see how things come along and whether it fits best as part and parcel of the same thing or as something else.

One other idea that’s been floating around has been the idea of Legendary Finales as a product line, wherein we create a high-level post-AP adventure that could serve as a “chapter 7” for an existing official adventure path. I’ve had an adventure outline put together for one of those for our pirate AP. It remains to see whether I’ll have time to actually write that adventure or not, but meanwhile we are hoping for a February release for Fort Scurvy, and it’ll be a joy to get this one finally off my desk and out to you, hopefully followed soon thereafter by Ultimate Armies, Royal Tournaments, and Way of the Blade!

COMING SOON from Legendary Games!

Thanksgiving week is a great time to look back at a marvelous year, but we’re not quite to the end of it and there’s still a bit of time to finish off some long-simmering projects too! Three projects that have been on my personal to-do list for far too long are actually all on my desk now getting worked on!

Royal Tournaments – This supplement for royal events, from classics like archery and jousting to more exotic and magical contests like the Tower of Jewels and the Pillars of Life and Death, as well as non-contest events you can use to build your reputation and renown. Got some work done on this in October and it’s still coming along, incorporating more of the subsystems from Ultimate Campaign for better integration.

Fort Scurvy – This high-level pirate adventure involves invading the fearsome fortress of a terrible pirate king with a hand of gold and a heart of coal! The maps should be going out soon for this adventure as I continue revising the text to incorporate more rules involving the troop template and continue massaging the stat blocks, and this book has gotten several new pieces of artwork, including the aforementioned Pirate King! GoldenPirateWIP6-1

Ultimate Armies – Did I mention the troop template? That will be one of many things featured in this simmering sequel to Ultimate Battle and Ultimate War, along with mercenaries and more. This is being worked on in tandem with Fort Scurvy as many pieces of the rules cross over. It will also include a large section of premade unit stat blocks, including those for iconic battles in the long-running Adventure Path series from Paizo, Inc.!

I’ll be having a long plane trip during the Thanksgiving holiday and should get a fair amount done on these books, and my hope is to get all three out by the end of the year if I can. Of course, those long-awaited titles are not the only things awaiting!

Tomorrow I’ll be announcing more of our upcoming products that should be ready next month. Suffice to say, this year will be going out with a ROARRRRRRRR!!!!!!
