Spread the word and help the LEGEND grow!


At Legendary Games, we sometimes get asked how fans can help the company to grow. Obviously, buying our stuff helps! Talking up our products on messageboards that you frequent helps too – not just spamming them with promotions, but if you like a product saying why you like it, or even better *asking* if other people on the messageboards have taken a look and what they thought of it. You may get curious folks coming by to check things out. When you invite conversation, you help build curiosity and interest and show that these products are things that are being used and talked about in the gaming world.

Leaving reviews is also a great help. It’s wonderful to have hardcore reviewers like Endzeitgeist (seen here with a brand-new review of Mythic Monsters: Oozes), writing a review doesn’t need to be a thousand-word affair. If you can spare 5 minutes to write up a quick summary of what you really liked about a product and post it up, that still has great value for other customers to see that it’s not just one person’s opinion on a book, be it good or bad. Some sites like DrivethruRPG/RPGNow require you to be a purchaser through their site to review, so if you bought yours there then by all means post your review on that site. Others, like Paizo and d20pfsrd, don’t require that. Anyone is welcome to leave their reviews, and we heartily encourage anyone who can to do so.

On a larger scale, you can also help Legendary Games increase its reach in terms of book distributors, both in North America and overseas. Legendary Games has a lot of fans all over the world. Just for our Kickstarter fulfillment, we shipped books to the United States, Great Britain, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Austria, Australia, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Norway, Croatia, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey, and Poland. Shipping overseas is very expensive, but if we can secure an overseas distributor, that may help with the process for our overseas customers to get our books. We have sold some products through Ulisses Spiele, a German distributor, on a test basis. We’re in talks with Good Games in Australia to get our products listed through them as well. Heck, even if you’re in the U.S. and Canada you can ask for our products through online retailers like The Warstore or Noble Knight Games or even your Friendly Local Game Store, bookstore, comic store, or toy store, whether you’re at Enchanted Grounds in the Denver area or Card Kingdom right here in Seattle or whatever your local store of choice may be.

Since we’re a relatively new company, when you contact an online retailer or a game store, especially one where you have an established relationship and know the people there but even if you’re just a new customer, and ask them for our products, you increase the chances that they’ll want to start (or continue) stocking Legendary Games material and buying and selling them in the future. This is doubly true if you purchase products from them, or leave positive reviews for them. If you don’t see our products there, call and email them and ask for them. If a German or Australian distributor is not helpful to you, look for RPG distributors that do ship to your country, point them to our website and our company email at makeyourgamelegendary@gmail.com.

Never be pushy or insincere. In all things, conduct yourself with class and dignity. Ask if they carry our products, and ask for a product or three in particular. Don’t just bang them with “THEIRPRODUCTS!!!OMG!!!THEY’REGREAT!!!STOCKTHEMALLRIGHTNOWNOWNOW!!!!” Just say which products you’re looking for and how much you’d like to get them through their venue and that you’ve gotten other products from us and people in your gaming group seem to really enjoy them. Be honest, but keep it short and sweet. A number of brief inquiries over time will matter a lot more than a dozen giant dissertations sent all at once.

This is an area where fans can ABSOLUTELY help companies spread their reach and get their games available more widely. We can talk to distributors, but if they don’t see a demand from fans they’ll probably say “no thanks.” If they hear from us and they hear from you, they start to see that this is a product they should want to stock, and you help spread the good word of Legendary Games wider and wider, and that’s good news for everybody!
