5E FREE-Day with Sea Monsters, Magic Item Cards, and More!

5E Friday being FREE-Day takes on a whole new meaning as our Sea Monsters Kickstarter keeps on rolling, now over 4000% funded and climbing in just four days! We are so excited to share what’s coming that we have just released a Sea Monsters Preview PDF, which you can download right now at DrivethruRPG or the Legendary Games webstore, featuring four of the fantastic denizens of the deep you’ll find inside this volume – the clockwork leviathan, storm hag, loran monk, and the devastating scylla! By all means, share the link with everyone and point them right back here so they can see what they’re missing out on!
Of course, 5E Friday is also a day to grab a free new magic item from the Legendary Loot Patreon, and this week it is the sinister midnight beacon, a lantern of light and darkness whose lambent glow or ebon rays are infused with the power of death! You can grab nearly two dozen free magic items right now from our weekly archives, but if you’ve ever wanted to hold our legendary treasures right in the palm of your hand, now you can! We are pleased to present the first set of our Legendary Loot Cards: Deck #1, an 80-card deck featuring dozens and dozens of magic items of every description and for every class. From common items like the bottled wisp and diplomat’s signet to legendary relics like the plate of the white wyrm, staff of draconic power, and cuirass of miracles, you’ll find terrific treasures for every character! We’ll be releasing a new deck quarterly, with PDF versions and two files provided, one with each item on its own page for easy device viewing and another templated for easy printing! Check them out right now at the Legendary Games webstore, Open Gaming Store, Paizoand DrivethruRPG

OTHER KICKSTARTER NEWS!

Speaking of missing out on our Sea Monsters project, I would be remiss if I didn’t reach out with thanks to the whole community of creators making amazing stuff for D&D 5E and beyond. Most of us are small companies and we like to support each other and spread the good news to make a richer ecology of games and supplements for everyone. One of my dear friends in the business, my brother from another mother, Jonathan Nelson, runs AAW (Adventure A Week), and they’ve just launched a terrific Kickstarter project as well. Where we are going deep underwater, they are going deep underground, with the aid of the legendary Douglas Niles (author of the AD&D Dungeoneer’s Survival Guide). If you love drow, the underdark, and all the creepy crawlies in the caves below, then by all means please check out their new Survivalist’s Guide to Spelunking for D&D 5E, the definitive guide for Underworld survival with an array of modular tools, tables, and rules to enhance & customize your game.

Going the other direction from big to small, rather than talking about the whole ocean like we are doing, our friends at the Cabal of Enchantment are distilling magic and power into a single drop with their new Alchemy and Poisoncraft project, featuring not only tons of new alchemical rules but also a companion adventure showing off all the great stuff you can do with their system. We are planning a book of magic items and treasures and alchemical items are definitely part of that, so it’s cool to see their take on things as well!

Those of us who make games for a living appreciate each and every one of you who supports the games business, whether it’s D&D or other systems. Old-school fantasy projects like ours and the ones above. New-school genre-crossing games like the exciting Native American inspired and designed Coyote and Crow! There’s a ton of cool stuff out there, from small-scale supplements to big books and all points in between. Games are fun to play and fun to read, and in this COVID age we all can use a distraction from the cares of the world, and we honor your support in helping us to make the world a little more fun.
