Special Abilities

Acid (Ex) A black pudding secretes a digestive acid that dissolves organic material and metal quickly, but does not affect stone. Each time a creature suffers damage from a black pudding’s acid, its clothing and armor take the same amount of damage from the acid. A DC 21 Reflex save prevents damage to clothing and armor. A metal or wooden weapon that strikes a black pudding takes 2d6 acid damage unless the weapon’s wielder succeeds on a DC 21 Reflex save. If a black pudding remains in contact with a wooden or metal object for 1 full round, it inflicts 21 points of acid damage (no save) to the object. The save DCs are Constitution-based.

Suction (Ex) A black pudding can create powerful suction against any surface as it climbs, allowing it to cling to inverted surfaces with ease. The pudding can establish or release suction as a swift action, and as long as it is using suction, it moves at half speed. Because of the suction, a black pudding’s CMD score gets a +10 circumstance bonus to resist bull rush, awesome blows, and other attacks and effects that attempt to physically move it from its location.

Kickstarters and Superstars and Pirates, OH MY!!!

Our latest interview with Refresh and Reload featured Jason Nelson and Superstar author Matt Goodall talking about the success of this Kickstarter, our current stretch goal to reach $15,000 in the next 36 hours (just over $700 away) and seal the deal on the complete Gothic Horror Campaign Compendium. This interview also featured a discussion of the upcoming Pirate Adventure Path Plug-In series, including Matt Goodall’s upcoming Islands of Plunder, and the five lucky backers at the Creature from the Black Lagoon level who will be working with him to design their own pirate ships, crews, and lonely deserted islands! A look back, a look ahead, and a salute to the fans and friends that have made this project possible.

200 BACKERS – now onward for more, More, MORE!!!

Thanks to everybody for joining on and getting us to our HeroLab Support goal, and double-plus thanks for getting us FULLY FUNDED!!!!

But why stop there?

It seems perhaps a bit ambitious to hope for 300 backers to add Greg Vaughan’s adventure Feasting at Lanterngeist to the compilation, but we are completists by nature and would love to include it – as well as the last Gothic Grimoire, Omnia Mutandis!

With 48 hours to go, we are going to translate some of our backer goals into cash-money funding goals for everybody. You’ve already seen some of the art previews from Greg Vaughan’s adventure, Feasting at Lanterngeist, on our website here and here. We would love to include this adventure in our compilation, as well as the final Gothic Grimoire, Omnia Mutandis! This will bring the final page count for the Gothic Horror Campaign Compendium to either 256 or 272 pages (pending final layout).

To fund this increase in the size of our book, adding some amazing new content by Greg A. Vaughan and myself, plus fabulous artwork by LG favorites Frank Hessefort, Tanyaporn Sangsnit, and Mike Lowe, we are adding it to our pledge goal at $15,000. You were already going to get a free copy of the first issue of Open Gaming Monthly, 40+ pages of great 3PP content, courtesy of John Reyst at d20pfsrd, but on top of that you can help make this product truly Legendary!

$2000 is not that much for the final two days of our Kickstarter. If you have not already pledged, spread the word and get your friends on board! If you have already pledged, consider adding the $10 Jason signs your book add-on and I will happily sign your book in my fanciest calligraphy! Or go for one of our bonus goals to work with Boomer, Neil, or myself on an upcoming Legendary Games product. We want to make this product truly great, and you deserve to have it all!

Thank you so much for your support in getting us this far. The final days are upon us! Let’s Make this Kickstarter Legendary!

A second look at Lanterngeist!

Good horror inspires a feeling of familiarity mixed with strangeness… or, more to the point, wrongness. It places happiness alongside awfulness, and lulls you into a sense of comfort before springing the horror on you with both barrels. That’s where Feasting at Lanterngeist is going to be a lot of fun for people and why we are excited to bring it to you. The adventure takes place during the eponymous festival of Lanterngeist, and while players are naturally suspicious of everything, at first nothing seems terribly out of the ordinary in this quaint little village. Just the right night for party. Perhaps the PCs should join in. A little music. A little dancing. What could possibly go wrong…

Such merriment! Surely nothing could spoil the fun!

A first look at Lanterngeist!

Greg Vaughan’s new adventure for Legendary Games, Feasting at Lanterngeist, is in preparation as we speak. It is one of our backer bonus goals through our Kickstarter, and I just thought everybody would like an early look at some of the deliciously macabre artwork for this one. What is Lanterngeist, you ask? Greg describes it as being sort of Halloween, with dancing and food and merriment and delightful pumpkin lanterns, but in a Greg Vaughan adventure you know that happiness will soon give way to tears. It will be a celebration all right, but the horror has just begun! I could show you all of the artwork, but that would be getting… ahead of myself.

Thanks to Tanyaporn Sangsnit for her deliciously awful depiction of the festivities of Lanterngeist!

And ANOTHER 5-star review for Legendary Games – RIGHTEOUS HEROES

This one courtesy of Weslocke on the messageboards. You can read his full review here, but to sum up, he states:

Each of the characters was provided with a well thought out backstory and personal motivations which really meshed with the AP and would easily allow a player to springboard into the AP seamlessly. Not just that, these backstories were fun! I found myself wanting to play them.

Additionally each character was beautifully illustrated with its own original art making them even more compelling and really bringing them to life in the minds-eye. Mechanically they were sound and absolutely playable. In my mind the only optimized PC is one that is built to synergize with the campaign and in that respect these characters really deliver.

Now, combine all that with the top-notch production quality that Legendary Games and their Design Team is famous for and you get a product and characters that synergizes with the Righteous Crusade Adventure Path in a fashion far beyond my expectations. Once again they have really outdone themselves. This product caused me to reconsider purchasing the rest of the line for the other Adventure Paths. It is truly that good.

In addition, PathfinderFan64 purchased a copy of Righteous Heroes from our CreateSpace store, and said:

The print version looks great! I hope you do this with more of your titles. I liked all the characters and the art was great. The print copy looks even better than the pdf. I was happy that you decided to offer herolab files. The only complaint I have is that you didn’t include the character portraits with the herolab files. That was the main reason I bought them. I hoped they were there. Overall a great product.

High praise indeed. Our thanks go out to our fans who take the time to post up their comments and reviews; word of mouth and recommending products you like to your friends is the best way to help our business grow!
